Subject: [CoALA-L] FW: Registration for Stepping Up to Extraordinary is Now Open!

Looking for a unique, experiential learning experience?

The CAL Leadership Development Committee<http://www.cal-webs.org/?page=LeadershipDevCom> is hosting a one-day interactive workshop, a beta test of Sharon Morris’ PLA preconference, Stepping Up to Extraordinary: Using Core Values to Inform Public Library Leadership. Space is limited, so register now<http://www.cal-webs.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=774726> for Stepping Up to Extraordinary: Using Core Values to Inform Library Leadership!

When: Friday March 11, 2016 from 9:00 – 5:00

Where: The Arapahoe Library District Administration Building, 12855 E Adam Aircraft Circle, Englewood, CO.

Workshop details:

We seek library leaders at all levels to attend, engage, and provide feedback. Whether you are a new director facing significant change, a mid-career manager who’s looking for ways to step up, or nearing the end of your career and seeking ways to find more meaning in your work, this day is for you!

Participants will identify core values, reflect on defining situations that instill those values, consider how core values can be applied to everyday work, and discover strategies for navigating values conflicts. Participants will engage in a variety of individual, paired, and group activities that give them more clarity on core values, more confidence and commitment to using values with intention, and a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in their work. (This content is based on Sharon’s dissertation topic, but the activities and content will be very much about practical application.)

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Have a stronger understanding of and commitment to their core values.

2: Have new colleague connections with library leaders.

3: Have at least three practical ways to improve work relationships and activities.
