What's the Difference between an Academic and a Genie?

If you don't know already then come to the 2020 CLiC Spring Workshop in Grand Junction, on March 19th & 20th and we'll give you the answer!

The Evaluating Vendor Privacy Policies with an Eye on Privacy: In the digital world, patron privacy becomes increasingly complex for libraries monitor and safeguard. In this presentation, you'll be guided through a sampling of vendor privacy policies, examine typical policy language, and discuss important questions that libraries need to be asking and addressing with vendors in order to protect patron privacy. (Nicole Becwar, Western Colorado University)

LAUGH It Off! A CAL Intellectual Freedom Committee Update: Everyone working in a library is tasked with upholding the intellectual freedom of our patrons and our community. During this session, members of CAL's Intellectual Freedom Committee will dig into the importance of protecting this core library value at every level of the library and will provide the opportunity to practice the LAUGH method, a strategy for handling intellectual freedom complaints when you're working on the frontlines of library service. (Jay Ballenberger, Colorado Mesa University & Miranda Doran-Myers, High Plains Library District)

Leading From the Middle: Sometimes the leadership that is required for an organization to be successful does not all come from the top. Successful initiatives can often be led by staff in the middle of the work, providing some of the drive needed to keep the library or school working and prospering. Participants will discover how our personality affects our leadership styles and how those of us in the middle of the work can step into leadership roles. (David Sanger, University of Denver)

The dates and locations for 2020 are:
Grand Junction: March 19 & 20 @ Colorado Mesa University
Fort Morgan: March 27 @ Fort Morgan High School
