Subject: 4 Great Reasons You Need to Present at CALCON19
To: <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>>

Have you submitted your session proposal yet? Proposals are due by March 1st (this is a hard deadline, and will NOT be extended this year!) If you're unsure if you should propose, here's 4 great reasons why! And remember, if you have a lot of great ideas, submit them all!

Thinking about presenting at CALCON, but not sure if you really want to do it? We’ve pulled together 5 great reasons why YOU should present!

#1— You’re a subject expert! You may not believe it, but YOU are likely one of the state’s leading experts in your subject specialty. You spend 40 hours per week working in your particular area, so you have a lot of knowledge and experience that others will want to hear about. It’s OK to brag! This is your chance to share those new ideas, successes (and failures) with your peers.

#2—Presenting is a great networking opportunity. CALCON19 is the place to meet with library staff across the state, so think of presenting as a tremendous opportunity to share topics you’re passionate about with an incredibly broad pool of colleagues with similar interests. After your presentation, encourage them to connect with you after the session or conference. (Trust me, they will!)

#3—It looks AMAZING on your resume. Let’s be honest. It’s great to share your experiences with colleagues, but it’s even better to get something out of it! Presenting at CALCON will help your resume stand out from the rest, revealing your active pursuit of professional development opportunities.

#4—Professional Development. Taking a nod from #3, presenting at a conference pushes you to expand your comfort zone and build strengths in interpersonal communication, presentation skills, networking, and more. As a bonus, any constructive feedback you receive about your presentation will help you grow!

The CALCON program proposals to Friday, March 1st. Submitting is easy. Apply today<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe42lSget64w-_TtBQKtIdmbOc5vbFfO-fNgYvIKhzAwoEDUg/viewform>! Check out the CALCON19 Program Submission Packet and then fill out the Submission Form.
We want to see YOU at CALCON19!
