Thanks to an amazing Keynote Subcommittee, CALCON15 is excited to announce our three keynote speakers for October: Dr. Michael Stephens, Ryan Warner and Salvador Avila!

Dr. Stephens is Assistant Professor in the School of Information at San Jose State University. He was the 2009 CAVAL Visiting Scholar in Australia, consulted and presented for US Embassies in Germany, Switzerland, and Turkey, and presents to both national and international audiences about emerging technologies, learning, innovation, and libraries. Since 2010, Dr. Stephens has written the monthly column "Office Hours” for Library Journal exploring the issues, ideas, and emerging trends in libraries and LIS education. To review Dr. Stephen’s archive of work, visit his Tame the Web website and blog http://tametheweb.com<[log in to unmask]&job=1754204&ymlink=3301059&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Ftametheweb%2Ecom" target="_blank">http:[log in to unmask]&job=1754204&ymlink=3301059&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Ftametheweb%2Ecom>. Dr. Stephens will present on Saturday, October 24th.

Ryan Warner is the host of Colorado Public Radio’s daily interview program "Colorado Matters” that focuses on a variety of issues important to local government, education, and culture. In addition to his role as host of "Colorado Matters” Warner began a monthly series "Colorado Matters at the Tattered” that highlights local Colorado (and western) authors visiting the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver. During his time at CPR, Warner has received numerous awards from organizations, including the Associated Press and 5280 Magazine. For more information, check out his CPR profile: http://www.cpr.org/profile/ryan-warner<[log in to unmask]&job=1754204&ymlink=3301059&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ecpr%2Eorg%2Fprofile%2Fryan%2Dwarner" target="_blank">http:[log in to unmask]&job=1754204&ymlink=3301059&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ecpr%2Eorg%2Fprofile%2Fryan%2Dwarner>. Mr. Warner will present on Friday, October 23rd.

Salvador Avila was named the 2014 REFORMA Librarian of the Year for his work promoting and advocating services to Latinos and the Spanish speaking communities. He is also the author of two books focusing on serving Spanish speakers at the library. As the Manager of the Enterprise Branch of the Las Vegas Clark County Library District, Avila developed programs aimed at providing teens with the job skills and experience needed to become a DJ. Throughout his career he has been a national advocate for better connections between libraries and the Spanish speaking populations through ALA Council and the Urban Library Council. In 2006 Avila was named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker. To read more about his work with REFORMA see the official press release: http://www.reforma.org/loty14<[log in to unmask]&job=1754204&ymlink=3301059&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ereforma%2Eorg%2Floty14" target="_blank">http:[log in to unmask]&job=1754204&ymlink=3301059&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ereforma%2Eorg%2Floty14>.
