Rose Nelson Appointed Assistant Director of the Colorado Alliance

Effective July 1, 2012, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Rose Nelson as the Assistant Director of the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries.    In this position she will be responsible for managing the Prospector regional catalog (http://www.coalliance.org/prospector) and the Gold Rush ERMS/linker/A-Z service (http://goldrush.coalliance.org).  In addition, she will provide administrative back-up for the executive director.



Rose Nelson was formerly a Systems Librarian at the Colorado Alliance for the last six and a half years.  Her primary responsibilities include working on the Prospector union catalog with 40 libraries and the Gold Rush electronic resource management system with over 60 libraries. Prior to this Rose served as a Technology Consultant at the Colorado State Library for five years where she managed several Gates grant programs and was the E-rate coordinator and trainer for Colorado libraries. After completing her MLIS, Rose started her professional career in libraries as a Regional Technology Consultant at the South Central Kansas Library System in Hutchinson Kansas.



In April 2012 Rose was selected to attend the MPLA Leadership Institute where she gained valuable knowledge about leadership principles and models.  She served as Chair of the CO Interlibrary Loan Committee for the last two years. She has also recently been elected to the national Innovative User's Group Steering Committee.  She is a member of CAL and the MPLA library associations.  Rose received her MLS degree from Emporia State University and holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is a third generation Colorado native.
