CAL Conference 2008: Communities and Libraries Call for Volunteers
(set to the tune of “Camptown Ladies”)

Lend an ear and hear things clear -
Do dah, doo dah!

It’s your year to volunteer -
Oh, doo dah day!

Doncha wanna help? C’mon, ya know ya do!
Bet your money it’ll all work great,
But we’re depending on you (1)

All the best folks will be here -
Doo dah, doo dah!

So step right up and volunteer -
Oh, doo dah day!

Sign up now online for a fabu time!
Bet yer money it’ll be a blast,
Though you won’t bring home a dime. (2)

Everyone will think you’re cool
Doo dah, doo dah

All of CAL volunteers rule – (3)
Oh, doo dah day!

Come and volunteer! Yell and shout and cheer! (4)
You’ll have fun and you will help a lot –
The Russian Space Station was Mir. (5)

(1) This line really does work with the meter. You just have to slow
it way down.
(2) Just in case you were confused about what “volunteering”
means.
(3) See #1
(4) But not specifically at your volunteer post.
(5) This is known in literary circles as “an expedient rhyme.”

I hope you'll register AND volunteer to help out during the
conference!
