Subject: Re: Prospector Preconference

George--
I wonder if Jimmy would want to write an "In the Field" for us based on his upcoming presentation?? We could run it in July possibly....
Becky

Dear Colleagues,

Below is some information about a free Prospector preconference in April of this year. There is no charge and if you are interested please register.

George

We encourage you to attend the free Prospector preconference on April 25, 1-5pm at the Lory Student Center at CSU Fort Collins. We will provide important updates on Prospector including news about the Marmot libraries and DCB sites. Tom Jacobsen, Director of Sales at III will also present at the event.

Another very important and practical topic that you don't want to miss is a discussion on the integration of ebooks in Prospector. Over the last several years, libraries have been purchasing ebook collections. As many of you are aware, because of licensing agreements, most of these collections can't be loaned through Prospector. However, there are some exceptions-open access collections and Springer ebooks.

As Prospector continues to grow, it's important that library staff understand policies regarding ebooks in Prospector, what collections are freely available to access and how best to help patrons navigate ebooks in Prospector. This topic is relevant to all library staff from acquisitions and cataloging to circulation and reference staff. Ebooks really effect all workflows in the library. So feel free to pass this along to other colleagues in the library.
