Constitution Day Scheduled; Educational Activities Urged A new law has deemed that every educational institution that receives federal funds hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on Constitution Day, September 17. (See below.) Libraries can work with schools and academic institutions; public libraries also can reach out to the general public. The purpose of this day is to ensure that students gain an understanding and appreciation of America's founding documents and the role they play in guaranteeing and protecting our freedoms. Liberty Day, www.libertyday.org, has resources to assist you and is organizing activities in conjunction with Constitution Day. You can access pertinent parts of the law and look over materials, like curriculum, t-shirts, pins. E-mail your activities and events to be added to the master list by contacting [log in to unmask] You also are invited to a Constitution Day Press Conference on Friday, August 26, 10 a.m. at the state capitol in Denver. This is open to the public and is sponsored by Liberty Day. (Please contact the sponsor directly for details; I have no further information.) Bonnie F.
