As was previously announced, Gold Rush Linker version 4.0 was released today (June 12th).  Full documentation for the release is also available within the GR Staff Toolbox by selecting the question mark (?) on the top right of the screen.  Look at the document called "Managing Gold Rush Linker" for the full details on the update.

Some of the new features include:

Gold Rush Linker will now support both NISO OpenURL 1.0 as well as 0.1 standards

Sites will be able to customize their Gold Rush Linker results screens. Some of the features include the ability to reorganize screen layout, add your own colors and fonts, incorporate your own stylesheets (or use one of our three templates), incorporate your own graphics/logos, and label section headings with your own words.

Sites will now be able to build their own article targets using any standard OpenURL variables. Gold Rush will continue to offer a predefined group of targets for easy selection, but being able to build your own targets opens up the ability to resend article level metadata to many remote systems including new aggregators, publishers, ILL management systems, Web forms, document delivery systems or other systems.

Tighter controls over when a publisher-based Digital Object Identifier (DOI) from CrossRef should appear to the user will mean fewer false links in GR Linker results screen. Each library can now define which providers should be excluded for DOIs from CrossRef.

Incoming OpenURLs to Gold Rush no longer will require an ISSN. If the incoming citation lacks an ISSN the system can be set to provide a fallback title search. If more than one title matches, the user can select which title should be used.

A library can now determine if outgoing links on the Gold Rush Linker results page open in a separate window or remain in the same window.

Gold Rush Linker will continue to support its previous functionality including full compatibility with Google Scholar.
