July 15th - that's next Saturday - is the last day for Book Cart Drill Teams to enter this year's premier competition at the Colorado Association of Libraries Conference.

We’re rounding up local book cart wranglers for a drill team competition to be held at the annual Colorado Association of Libraries Conference in November 9-12, 2006. Please contact Rene Yaws at [log in to unmask] by July 15th, 2006 if you and a group of your colleagues are interested!

Some sample rules & regulations:

• Teams will consist of up to 12 people per team. Teams with children will be considered.
• Each routine may last no more than 4 minutes.  If the team goes over the 4 minute time limit, .05 points for each 10 seconds over the 4 minutes will be deducted from the Technical Ability score.
• Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams.  Judges, at their discretion may award honorable mention ribbons to teams who, in their opinion, deserve of this award.
• Judging will be based on two criteria Technical Ability (organization, precision, unique moves, timeliness) and Artistic Impression (overall performance, music, costumes, cart décor). Decision of judges is final.
