Here's another reason to
attend the Surfing Beyond Search Engines database conference September 27 and
28.
The AIRS (Acquisition of Information Resources Statewide)
Committee will be going out to bid for new statewide database licenses this
fall. The current AIRS database contracts for OCLC/FirstSearch, Ebsco
Academic Search/Business Source Premier, and Ebsco K-12 will end
mid-2008. Most of the major vendors will be demonstrating their products
at the Surfing Beyond Search Engines database conference on September 28.
Come and see the products, ask questions, and be part of the decision-making
process! We encourage you to attend and complete the survey that will
help inform the AIRS Committee about which vendors and products to pursue in
the RFQ process.
The databases selected for statewide licenses by
AIRS will be available at a substantial discount for libraries who choose
to participate.
The AIRS Committee is charged with selecting, negotiating,
and implementing contracts and licenses for information resources on behalf of
