What is Advocacy?
Advocacy
is an action in support of a cause, idea, or group. This workshop will teach you
about actions you can take to support your library. It will include setting
your goals, building teams within your library and community, strategies for
developing your message and how to get your message out.
Who should attend?
This workshop
is appropriate for both beginners and those wishing to brush up on their
skills. It will be geared towards public and academic librarians as well as
Board members and Friends.
What will I get out of this workshop?
Attendees will learn skills to become an effective
library advocate. There will be presentations
on message development, coalition-building, and lobbying (in the broad sense of
the word.)
