STATEMENT
Kinds of Reference
Services Being Offered at Academic Libraries Survey
You are invited to
participate in a research study. The purpose of this study is to determine what
kinds of reference services are being offered at academic libraries and if
libraries are planning to change the way they offer reference services based on
students’ behaviors. It also asks if you plan on getting rid of
traditional reference services. This is the second version and the response of
all academic librarians are invited, even if you took the survey last year.
This survey has been revised; some questions have been dropped, and
others shortened.
I want to find if there has
been any change of feeling regarding changing the way reference services is
done. Last year over 80% of libraries surveyed still did traditional reference
over 7 hours a day. And 65% of academic libraries surveyed said that they would
never take librarians off the reference desk or that they probably would not.
10 percent said that they have already done so. It will be greatly
appreciated if you can take this survey. This time the survey results
will be made available to all who request it.

We hope to recruit at least
