NISO's annual members meeting will be held in New Orleans this June as part
of the American Library Association Annual conference. The meeting, *which
is open to everyone*, will be held as a part of the traditional NISO Update
on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1:00-1:30 pm in the Ernest N. Morial
Convention Center, Room 209. This half-hour discussion about the status of
the organizations will be prepended to the regular NISO Update that takes
place at every ALA conference which will run from 1:30-2:30 pm. We will
cover a number of organizational topics, such as NISO's strategic planning
process, organizational finances, and standards program plans for the
coming year. This is also an opportunity for the membership to provide
feedback and have their questions answered about any NISO topic.

The NISO Update will include presenters from current working groups,
providing the latest news on active projects impacting the library and
information community.

The Resource Access in the 21st Century (RA21) project has been developing
pilot technology to improve the user experience of SAML-based
authentication. The solutions aims to improve the user experience and do so
in a privacy-protecting way. This session will report out the progress of
the pilot technology developments and the movement toward an industry
recommended practice. Two RA21 pilot technologies will be demonstrated and
discussions will also center on how the resulting efforts have been built
around the library community values of protecting privacy.
