The NISO Update provides the latest news about NISO's current efforts, including standards, recommended practices and community meetings covering many areas of interest to the library community. Working group members will provide updates on projects newly underway or recently completed. Updates will include KBART & KBART Automation, the Open Discovery Initiative, Z39.7, the Flexible API Standard for E-Content (FASTEN), RA21, and newly announced projects

NISO-STM Association Resource Access in the 21st Century (RA21) Project Outputs and Next Steps

NISO and the International Association of STM Publishers have been working to improve the user experience for single sign-on system access to subscribed content. The Resource Access in the 21st Century Project conducted a detailed review of the technology and user experience of RA21 used to provide a frictionless environment for users and patrons to access content from anywhere, any time. The project is near to producing its final outputs and this session will discuss its progress and outputs. During this session, we will also cover how efficient and secure authentication can be a bridge for advanced features that users desire including personalization, recommendations; and gives libraries requested info including analytics, purchasing recommendations whilst building trust and maintain strong patron privacy.
