**Apologies for cross posting**

After a month off in July, our educational events start up again in August, with two Roundtable Discussion webinars — Eliminating Outdated Workflows: Developing The New and Building Support for Non-Traditional Scholarly Outputs (both free for your organization as a NISO member) as well as a virtual conference on Open Source and Community-Supported Infrastructure (discounts for members).

Monthly webinar — free for NISO members

Eliminating Outdated Workflows: Developing The New

Wednesday, August 10, 11.00am - 12.30pm Eastern Daylight Time (US/Canada)

Could changing a workflow free up time for the information community — and the researchers we serve — to focus on other more valuable work? Hear from some of the professionals responsible for tweaking old workflows and processes and managing the resulting changes.

Speakers will include Christopher Cox, Clemson University, Trevor A. Dawes, University of Delaware, and Sara Lowman, Rice University.

Register here (includes unlimited attendees from your organization)

Building Support for Non-Traditional Scholarly Outputs

Wednesday, August 17, 11.00am - 12.30pm Eastern Daylight Time (US/Canada)

Following on from the previous webinar, this event will expand the discussion into the realm of non-traditional outputs. Video, audio, and data visualization are already increasingly common output formats, and those working in the arts and practice-based research require support for a host of other outputs, including images, performances, and more. What does this all mean for our research infrastructure? For editorial or content management systems? For discovery tools? For content platforms? We’re assembling a group of expert speakers (details to follow) for a round table discussion on this important and challenging topic.

Virtual conference — discount for NISO members

Open Source and Community-Supported Infrastructure

Wednesday, August 24, 12.00 - 4.00pm Eastern Daylight Time (US/Canada)

Research infrastructure is costly to build and maintain — they require investment and ongoing maintenance for the community to really benefit from and trust them. Which of the spectrum of models currently in use will best sustain key information infrastructure? What’s working, and what’s not — and why? What are the best practices for working across organizational boundaries? How can community leaders encourage the commitment needed to ensure sustainability as well as development? This virtual conference will bring together a group of experts (details to follow) to address these and other questions about the expansion of open source and community-supported infrastructure.

Register here (includes unlimited attendees from your organization)

Please see our events page for more information, including updates on confirmed speakers.

Best wishes

The NISO Team
