This spring, the Colorado State Library is offering several professional developments opportunities related to organizational culture and staff wellbeing. Registration is now open for the following events!
Cultural humility: A pathway to improving libraries with Xan Goodman – Tuesday January 9, 2024, from 12 – 2 PM
We still have a few spots available for this workshop where you will learn about cultural humility as a framework for libraries that has the promise to foster new approaches to organizational culture. Attend this workshop to learn how cultural humility might be enacted at the interpersonal level in libraries among colleagues and patrons.

Effective Library Leadership for Reducing and Responding to Staff Stress and Trauma with Beth Wahler – Tuesday January 23 & Tuesday 30, 2024 from 12 – 1:30 PM
This two-part virtual workshop aims to support library managers/administrators with both responding to and reducing staff stress and trauma.
Participants will learn about the strategies, practice several techniques together in small groups, and walk away with a preliminary plan for steps they can take to improve responses to staff stress and trauma in their own libraries.

De-escalation Skills Workshop with Pollack Peacebuilding – February 22, 2024, from 1-3 PM
In this interactive workshop, we will explore how to balance customer service, while at the same time adhering to organizational policies and interests. You will also learn strategies for promoting personal emotional management and reflective listening tools for acknowledgment and alignment with escalated parties.
