POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Head of Library Research Services, Assistant Professor of University Libraries (Tenure Track)

Position Description
The University of Northern Colorado Libraries seeks a collegial and creative leader, an innovative thinker, and a strong communicator for the position of Head of Library Research Services (LRS). Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Head of LRS will provide leadership of the department that supports scholarship across the disciplines and at all levels at UNC, from undergraduates to faculty.
The Head of LRS will use evidence-based decision-making to guide a department of 6 faculty librarians as it fulfils University Libraries objectives; coordinate departmental efforts to support campus research; play a key role in the promotion of the University Libraries institutional repository among campus scholars; foster the ongoing development of the University Libraries scholarly communications program; and contribute to various outreach activities to cultivate campus and community partnerships. The Head of LRS will actively participate in the management of the University Libraries though managers meetings and other committees.
The Head of LRS will serve as a subject liaison to programs based on background and experience. Liaison duties include instruction, research consultations, and collection development.
The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and prioritize work assignments within a vibrant and stimulating environment.
This is a faculty-level tenure-track position with an expectation of scholarly activity and service in addition to the activities listed above.

Minimum Qualifications

  *   Earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program
  *   Experience with liaison work in academic libraries
  *   3 years of professional academic library experience
Preferred Qualifications

  *   Supervisory experience

  *   Experience with classroom instruction or training
  *   Experience with library resources and tools that support research
  *   Leadership experience on a library committee or in a library association/consortium
  *   Experience in the promotion of library resources or services
  *   Experience with emerging trends in scholarly communications
  *   Demonstrated record of scholarship
  *   Evidence of working collaboratively
  *   Evidence of managing multiple projects or priorities
