Hello everyone!

This morning, we released Gold Rush Linker 3.2.0. It includes support for one new source and one new target as well as one bug fix. Please read the release notes below for a description of the changes and how to use them.

Gold Rush Linker 3.2.0 Release Notes
=====================================

Contents
----------
	New Source: PubMed
	New Target: Journals@OVID
Bug Fix: DOI Links not being displayed

New Source: PubMed
------------------
GR Linker now accepts OpenURL requests from PubMed. PubMed only includes the PubMed ID of an article. GR Linker now knows how to call back to PubMed to get the citation information for the article in question, so it can build links appropriately.

You do not need to do anything to activate this feature.

New Target: Journals@OVID
----------------
GR Linker can now build article links to the Journals@OVID database. The Journals@OVID database includes 3 classes of articles
	- articles for which OVID stores the full text locally
	- articles for which OVID can provide a link to the full text at
	  another site
	- articles for which OVID has no full text.

In the first case, the user will be taken directly to the full text of the article. In the second case, the user will be taken to a complete record which includes a link to the full text. In the third case, the user will be taken to a complete record that does not include a link to full text.

My somewhat minimal (60 journals) testing found approximately a one-third/one-third/one-third split for the 3 types of articles. It was a very small sampling, and may not be accurate across all of [log in to unmask]

To activate links to Journals@OVID, you will need to go to your Gold Rush Staff Toolbox -> Settings -> Manage Gold Rush Linker -> Article & ILL Targets, and add your proxy server to the Ovid Address. On this form, you can also set the label that will be used for Ovid article links. You will also need to go to your Gold Rush Staff Toolbox -> Settings -> Manage Gold Rush Linker -> Link Selection, and check the box by "OVID" in the "Article Targets" section.

Ovid is also a "linking partner" with CrossRef. So it is possible to have one article link directly to Journals@OVID and one DOI-derived article link going to OVID. In such cases, GR Linker prefers the Journals@OVID link, and does not display the DOI-derived link. GR Linker will still display other DOI-derived links that do not point to Ovid. So, it is still possible to have both a "Your article from: Ovid" and a "Your article from: The Publisher" link, but in such cases, the link to the publisher will not point to Ovid.

If your library has configured Ovid to display a news screen when a user logs in, you can force GR Linker links to bypass the news screen by adding "&NEWS=N" in the Ovid Address field in the Gold Rush Staff Toolbox -> Settings -> Manage Gold Rush Linker -> Article & ILL Targets form. If you need to add this parameter, add it before the "&SEARCH=" parameter.

Bug Fix: DOI Links not being displayed
--------------------------------------
This version fixes a bug that kept DOI-derived links to primary publishers from being displayed when your full text holdings did not include one of the current article targets. That is, if you get a journal from ScienceDirect, but do not get the same journal from one of the providers listed as article targets (Ebsco, Gale, JSTOR,...), GR Linker would not show you a link to the article.

Gold Rush will now provide these DOI-derived links as it should. You still need to have your dates and embargo information defined and up to date for all this to work gracefully.

You do not need to do anything to activate this feature.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Scott
